Being Alive to God’s Dream

Inspirational Quotes:

Hello and Happy New Year from all of us here at Brilliant. You know, looking ahead is always an interesting exercise. When we stand facing a new opportunity, sometimes we still feel the tension, the stress and the scar tissue on our back from the year we’re now leaving behind. And we wonder if this year will be as hard or as difficult or as problematic as the last one.

There can be a sense of uncertainty, a trepidation that puts a nervous sigh into our hearts and prayers. Conversely, you know if last year was good, we wonder if we can keep it going. Or will some unforeseen circumstance come out of nowhere and slap us upside the head? It’s the unasked questions that trip us up the most.

Questions that start a dialogue with God are always welcome to Him.

If your question is not on point with His will, He just has this way of giving you the answer He wants you to have anyway. The best questions to start a new time should generally be relational in nature. My favorite is always, “Lord, who do you want to be for me now?” Or “what do you want to be for me now?” Or maybe, “What new truth or belief is God replacing in my life during this time?”

Questions give us a context for engagement. They create a place to explore and discover the next part of our story and journey with the Lord. Questions engage us in process so we can see where our story in God is changing, and we’re our journey in God is going. Questions are not needed in order to galvanize God because He never stops moving. He knows the plans He has for us to give us both a future and a big expectation. That’s Jeremiah 29:11.

You know the Lord lives in us in a present-future context. He works with who we are now, and how we are traveling with Him. He’s also attracting us to see think and work towards our future growth in relationship with Him and what He’s got planned for us. Both of those come together in one of my favorite passages of Scripture. So I’m going to read to you from the Bible. Listen to this.

This is Deuteronomy 31:6-8. “Be strong and courageous. Don’t be afraid or tremble at them for the Lord your God is the One who goes with you. He will not fail or forsake you. Then Moses is called to Joshua and said to him in the sight of all Israel, Be strong and courageous. For you shall go with this people into the land which the Lord has sworn to their fathers to give them, and you shall give it to them as an inheritance. The Lord is the One who goes ahead of you, He will be with you, He will not fail or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”

You know, firstly, we must come to an understanding with God. That His presence creates both the strength and the courage that we need for everyday life situations. I think presence guarantees strength and courage.

Presence also guarantees that any negative emotion is neither required nor necessary. And actually, it must be banished from our emotional makeup. It is inconceivable to us that in living in God’s presence that He would fail or forsake us.

When I’m going through times of warfare or persecution, or suffering or opposition, presence constantly reminds me to stay close. To lean into God. To trust His empowering presence, knowing that He will keep me, and He will not fail or forsake me. You know, goodness and mercy are following us all the days of our life. And in times of extreme difficulty, we need to rest in God. Literally to slow down so that goodness and mercy can catch up and connect with us.

Whatever we’re called to in the Kingdom, will also require strength and courage, so that in the conflicts of life, we can receive in full the promises that God is making to us. Learning to receive under pressure is a key part of our relational walk with God. Coming into a place of inheritance is vital. If we are to take all the territory that God is giving us in the Kingdom. I think in all of this, the most crucial element that we must grasp, understand and align with is this:

The Lord is the One who goes ahead of you. And He will be with you. He will not fail or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.

The word dismay here is actually two words joined together. The word “may” here determines our promise, what we may have. Our permission, what we may move into. Our purpose, what God calls us to, what He is competent to do in us. The promised permission is where God expresses His desire and His ability towards us. The word “dis” D-I-S means to split in two. To separate. To suffer a reversal of fortune. It indicates a deprivation or a removal from source. The prime meaning of dismay is to lose strength and courage through fear. To be alarmed, distressed, or daunted by events.

Dismay is where we partner with the negative. It occurs when we make the opposition greater than God’s presence. It allows the enemy to deny our purpose, our promise, our permission, and the power that’s available to us. We become separated from who God is for us. We suffer a reversal, and we lose our advantage. So we end up being deprived of the resources that we need to move ahead. And I think in extreme negativity, we remove ourselves from the place of inheritance.

In times of difficulty and opposition, the word “may” provides us with God’s contingency plan where we may receive alternatives over and above what we are asking for, what the Bible calls a double portion. When you partner with a negative, it’s always to your own detriment. So the word in Deuteronomy 31:6, “Be strong and courageous.” Why does He always say those things to us? It’s because He’s gone ahead of us. And He knows what’s out there. And this passage here, opens and closes with, don’t be afraid and tremble.

Don’t fear or be dismayed. Why? Because He’s gone ahead of you, and He’s already seen the places where you’re going to have problems, and He’s doing something about it.

Right there even before you get there. That’s where our confidence comes from. He’s gone ahead of us.

So I want you to think of 2019. This is the year when you have to stop dissing yourself. It’s not the year of dismay. It’s actually the year of promise, permission and purpose where God is saying this:

“I have gone ahead to prepare a place for you. I know the places of difficulty that you will meet. And I have made provision in those times in those places for you. When you get there where you see a problem, I have already placed a provision because I went ahead of you. And I placed a blessing within the predicament that you will face. I’ll teach you to use the promise, scriptures, and prophecies that are already in your possession, even from times past.

So you must bring those things from the background of your history into the foreground of your circumstances, so that you may receive what was promised. This is the beginning of a new era for you. A time of times.

When in times of opposition you may receive from Me. I will create ongoing times and blessing, so that you may learn how to walk with Me at a higher level. These are fixed, specific blessings that you may overcome in places where your lifestyle is under threat. So call upon Me in those times.

Put dismay far out of reach. I will increase your strength and your courage that you may know the arm of the Lord is mighty to save you. There will be visible signs of My presence. Just as there were with Israel, in the deliverance from Egypt and the wilderness journey. They knew a cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night. Visible signs.

In My new covenant, peace, joy, patience, and goodness, are ongoing signs of presence that cause you to be still and know that I am your Lord. So a new expectation is going to grip you this year. A higher strength will cause you to face life situations with a more powerful confidence in 2019. This is the year where you may learn to trust as never before. Trust that I have gone before you.

So why don’t you ask Me what I’m seeing. Ask Me about yourself and your fellowship with Me. Ask Me what I want to be for you, so you may have fresh encounters that contain both promises and purpose. You may make great strides forward this year.

You may upgrade your identity, I give you permission.

You may move into a new level of faith, so that situations that look impossible, will concede to My promises over you.

Beloved, I want you to look forward with anticipation, not apprehension. I am going before you as a guarantee of trust. My presence will release you to know who you are, are in this time of renewal, in fellowship with who I am in you and for you. It is My intention to reveal how I see you and for you to rejoice in how you are known in Heaven. What I see about you, you may become. Permission granted.

I am aware of the insecurity and inadequacy in you that comes out of your history. However, this is a brand new day.

Your history is under the blood of Jesus. And it no longer speaks. It has no voice in your present or your future.

Although I feel your pain and your weakness, your new strength and courage speaks louder to My heart. So I’m constantly going to speak to your upgrade in Jesus. Because I always think about you in a new and living way.

What I see and know about you in the future will become your identity in the present. I see all your possibilities, and I release them to you as gifts. So I want you to learn this year to be apprehended by promise. Become convinced of a higher level of truth than the facts. Just as I’ve been with Jesus, so I’ll be with you. I’ll teach you how to incorporate My majesty into your surroundings, so that trust will be normal and exciting.

Beloved, the only way to disempower your disappointments and to decrease your negativity is to continue to upgrade your trust in My integrity towards you.

My goal is your confident assurance, so that you will acknowledge every good thing that is in you in Christ. I want you to dream My dream for you. To realize My passion for your identity. This year, you will learn My perspectives on your life. You may have all that I promise as you practice trusting that My presence is in your present.

Wow. So, guys, I hope this prophecy will resonate with you throughout this year and beyond. I pray that you will use this word wisely and discover all that you may experience this year and beyond. When you put the time into trusting and believing your lifestyle in God can go to a higher level in the Kingdom. This is the year of saying no to negativity. You’re no longer to be complacent with your promises. They are your currency and your real estate in the Kingdom. May you receive all that God has permitted you to have and enjoy. For Jesus sake. Happy New Year to you all. Thanks for listening. I appreciate it.
