You Can’t Outrun His Goodness.
Grace is more than just a safety net or fallback plan. Grace makes the presence of God real and tangible. It’s meant to go before us so we can move forward with confidence.
Psalm 23:6 says, “Surely goodness and lovingkindness will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”
You are a magnet for His goodness. You can’t escape His goodness, you can’t out run it. Whether you are having a good day or a bad day, His goodness will find you. It will track you down. It will pursue you ALL the days of your life.
And as a people living as new creations in Christ, we have to receive and accept that fact; that His unrelenting goodness is going to be with us for all of our days. Because everyone around us needs to taste and see that the Lord is good.
We are real-life demonstrations of God’s true nature. He is in our life for our welfare, for our blessing, and for the impact of the world around us.
You are so incredibly and wonderfully loved by God. You’re a magnet for His goodness and favor, so that everywhere you go, people can taste and see that the Lord is good.
The outrageous goodness of God is what captivates people with who God really is.
But before we can be living demonstrations of the goodness of God, we have to receive His goodness for us in all of its fullness. Look, Beloved, you can’t escape the goodness of God. Psalm 23:6 says, surely, the word surely means absolutely, positively, no question about it. Surely, goodness, and mercy will follow me all the days of my life.
That means you can’t outrun the goodness of God. It isn’t just present on the days you behave well, and it doesn’t leave you on the days that you don’t.
It will follow you. It will track you down. It will pursue you all the days of your life. And you know, you have to come to terms with that relentless goodness. Goodness, simply will not leave you alone. So instead of trying to talk the Lord out of His goodness towards you, how about just receiving it.
The fruit of goodness is about looking after someone’s welfare, acting with honor, being favorable towards someone, blessing them, lifting them up, giving them a divine advantage.
And that’s exactly how God plans to be with you. He’s in your life, for your welfare, your blessing, and He gives you His divine advantage, full of His glorious goodness towards you.
